Ryan Franden's first professional home run lifted the Dunedin Blue Jays to a 5-4 win over the Palm Beach Cardinals on Friday, Aug. 28. The two-run shot in the sixth inning at TD Ballpark broke a tie in game four of a six-game home series.

Franden, a second baseman, finished 1-for-4 with two RBI. He has hit safely in five straight games, going 7-for-29 during the stretch with three RBI.

Left fielder Rhylan Thomas, on a rehab assignment from Triple-A Tacoma, roped an RBI double in the fifth to get Dunedin on the board, according to the team's game recap on MiLB.com. Thomas went 2-for-4 and has hit safely in each of his first four rehab games, going 6-for-13 with two doubles and four RBI.

Franden's homer gave Dunedin the lead for good.

Right-hander Carson Messina, the Toronto Blue Jays' No. 26 prospect, started and pitched four innings. He allowed one run, none earned, on four hits with three walks and five strikeouts. The 20-year-old has not allowed an earned run in three of his last five starts. Friday's outing was his penultimate start of the 2026 season.

The bullpen locked the game down from there. Right-hander Gavin Seebold fired two scoreless innings in the eighth and ninth, allowing one hit and striking out three to earn his second professional save. Across his first seven pro appearances, Seebold has posted a 1.00 ERA with 18 strikeouts and one walk in nine innings.

Center fielder Blaine Bullard, the Toronto Blue Jays' No. 8 prospect, went 2-for-4 with a double and a walk. He reached base three times and recorded his team-leading 28th multi-hit game of the season. Bullard has hit safely in three straight games and four of his last five.

The Dunedin pitching staff combined to allow just one earned run while striking out 11 Palm Beach batters. The bullpen did not surrender a run over the final three innings.

The win followed Thursday's 7-5 loss in game three, when Dunedin let leads slip away. Two games remain in the six-game set, with the series continuing at TD Ballpark for the final weekend of the 2026 home schedule.
