The Dunedin Blue Jays open their final home stand of the 2026 season Tuesday, Aug. 25, hosting the Palm Beach Cardinals for six consecutive games at TD Ballpark through Sunday, Aug. 30.
Dunedin carries a four-game winning streak into the series after clinching a series victory over the Clearwater Threshers with a 9-6 win on Saturday, Aug. 22. Sunday's scheduled finale in Clearwater was canceled due to heavy rain, meaning the club heads home rested.
The team confirmed on X that this is the last home stand of the year, giving local fans one final week to catch Single-A ball on Douglas Avenue before the offseason.
Games Tuesday through Saturday feature evening first pitches. Sunday's series finale shifts to a midday start.
Hot bats heading home
Outfielder Jake Cook enters the stand batting .354 in August with four home runs and a 1.106 OPS. He has driven in a run in seven straight games. In the Aug. 22 series-clincher, Cook launched the team's first leadoff homer of the season, a 104.1-mph blast that traveled 414 feet.
Catcher Aldo Gaxiola has 14 home runs on the year and is hitting .354 in August with a 1.106 OPS of his own. He has gone deep in three of his last five games, including a solo shot in the eighth inning of the Clearwater win.
Infielder Raimundo De Los Santos has reached base in all eight games since returning to the Dunedin roster, batting .346 with seven RBI over that stretch.
On the mound, starter Brandon Barriera extended his scoreless streak to 13.1 innings across four starts with his outing on Aug. 22. Right-hander Carson Messina earned FSL Pitcher of the Week honors the week of Aug. 14.
Standings check
Dunedin sits at 26-25 in the second half (.510), 7.5 games behind the Tampa Tarpons in the FSL West. Palm Beach enters at 26-27 (.491), trailing the Daytona Tortugas by seven games in the FSL East. Neither club controls its playoff fate.
Vlad's brief cameo
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. made a one-game rehab appearance with Dunedin on Thursday, Aug. 20, in Clearwater, going 1-for-1 with a 98.8-mph RBI double and two walks, according to MLB.com. Toronto activated him from the concussion injured list two days later.
"As soon as he's ready, feeling good and cleared and he feels like he's got his timing, we're going to try to get him back in there," Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Aug. 20, before Guerrero rejoined the major-league club.
