Sixteen NCAA Division II men's golf teams will converge on Palm Harbor when the Copperhead Championship begins Monday, Oct. 12, at Innisbrook Resort.

The field includes the University of North Georgia, which entered the fall season among the nation's top-ranked Division II programs and arrives at Copperhead after a strong start to its schedule.

UNG won the Lake Lanier Collegiate Classic in Dahlonega, Georgia, on Sept. 21-22, finishing 34 under par with a three-round score of 806.

Junior Ashton Eubanks led the Nighthawks, winning individual medalist honors at 18 under with a 192. His 54-hole total set a tournament and UNG program record, while his second-round 63 established a tournament record for an individual round, according to the UNG Vanguard.

College golfers take on PGA Tour course

Saint Leo University hosts the two-day tournament on Innisbrook's Copperhead Course, the same course used for the PGA Tour's annual Valspar Championship.

The Larry Packard-designed course is a par 71 that can stretch to more than 7,300 yards and is known for its demanding closing stretch, nicknamed the "Snake Pit."

Matt Fitzpatrick won the 2026 Valspar Championship at Copperhead in March, finishing at 11-under 273.

UNG has made six consecutive NCAA Division II postseason appearances under head coach Bryson Worley. The Nighthawks also posted consecutive top-four national finishes, including an appearance in the championship match in 2024. Hunter Smith won the NCAA Division II individual national championship for UNG in 2025.

"Expectations are high at North Georgia, and I'm looking forward to watching this group continue to grow and make a run," Worley said in April when UNG earned its sixth consecutive NCAA postseason berth, according to the university.
