Palm Harbor's Cooper Consiglio is officially a professional baseball player.

The Philadelphia Phillies announced Saturday that the left-handed pitcher signed a professional contract with the organization after being selected in the ninth round of the 2026 MLB Draft, No. 279 overall. Consiglio, an East Lake High School graduate, pitched three seasons at North Carolina State University before hearing his name called.

The 6-foot, 192-pound lefty capped his final college season with a nine-strikeout performance against Miami. In 2026, he appeared in 17 games for the Wolfpack, starting six, and struck out 38 batters over 34 innings, according to N.C. State's official roster page.

Over his full N.C. State career, Consiglio posted a 9-13 record with a 7.23 ERA, 147 strikeouts and 78 walks while shifting between starting and relief roles, per 247Sports' draft coverage.

Consiglio is one of seven Wolfpack players from the 2026 draft class to sign professional contracts ahead of the league's deadline, according to On3. His signing bonus has not been publicly confirmed.

The Phillies signed 20 of their 2026 draft picks in the same announcement, headlined by first-round selection Tyler Spangler, a high school shortstop who went No. 36 overall and received a $3.25 million bonus, according to MLB.com. Philadelphia's first pick fell to No. 36 because of a 10-pick Competitive Balance Tax penalty.

Consiglio is the second Palm Harbor-area player to turn pro from this year's draft class. Earlier in July, Palm Harbor University High's Liam Peterson went No. 19 overall to the Cleveland Guardians.

The Phillies have not announced Consiglio's minor league assignment or reporting date.
