DFAC Marks 20th Year With 'Wearable Art 20: Platinum' Runway Show — Saturday, Aug. 22
The Dunedin Fine Art Center's signature fundraiser hits its 20th edition Saturday, Aug. 22, with a pre-party at 6:30 p.m. at DFAC's campus, 1143 Michigan Blvd., followed by the runway show at 8 p.m. at the Dunedin Community Center, 1920 Pinehurst Road, according to the Tampa Bay Beacons.
Six designers were selected for the event. The lineup includes internationally awarded designers Dawn Mostow and Ben Gould of Dawnamatrix, botanical artist Talia Craig, Tampa metal sculptor Chase Parker, Olga Saretsky of Kikimora Fashion, Charity Grace LeBlanc of Whimsy Forge and the Bay to Bay Wearable Art Collective.
Parker, a first-time participant who left a 19-year hairstyling career to pursue art full-time, told Creative Loafing Tampa in its Aug. 13 issue: "I feel like I've had so much pressure from people telling me how to make my art — a lot of commissions and corporate work. This is the first time in a long time I'm able to express myself freely — it's 100% me from concept to creation."
Tickets start at $40 for DFAC members and $70 for nonmembers. Assigned seating runs $125 and $150, respectively. The dress code is "Dress to Shine," with metallics, sequins or silver. Tickets are available at dfac.org or by calling 727-298-3322.
