A 17-year-old Dunedin runner has been missing since Sunday, Sept. 27. His family is asking Palm Harbor and Dunedin residents to check home security cameras for any sign of him.

Amari Santana was dropped off at Edgewater Park in Dunedin around 8:15 p.m. that evening to go for a run, according to community posts shared by A Voice For The Voiceless, Inc., a nonprofit advocacy organization. He did not have his phone with him. He never came back.

@HaveFaithlib: "His mom dropped him off at Edgewater Park in Dunedin around 8:15 PM so he could go for a run. He didn't have his phone, and he never came back."

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office is handling the case. No official PCSO press release had been issued as of Wednesday, Sept. 30, though Tampa Bay news account IONTB posted the agency's tip line number and urged the public to call with information.

Santana is described as approximately 6 feet tall and 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing black shorts, a white shirt and a gray zip-up jacket, according to the nonprofit's post, which cited people close to him.

His family says Santana regularly runs five to 10 miles at a time. Because of that range, they are asking residents not to focus only on the area around Edgewater Park. Richland Today reported that the family encouraged people in Palm Harbor, Ozona, Countryside, Dunedin, Clearwater, Safety Harbor, Tarpon Springs and other parts of Pinellas County to review Ring cameras, security cameras and any other available footage.

The family also asked residents to distribute Santana's flyer to fishing and boating communities, marinas, Pinellas Trail users, running and cycling groups, and local driver networks. Anyone with possible surveillance footage is asked to preserve the original video and provide it directly to law enforcement.

A community volunteer search was underway Wednesday, Sept. 30, in the Dunedin area. The family has emphasized that Santana remains missing and asked people not to share claims that he has been found unless the information comes directly from them or law enforcement.

Anyone who spots Santana or believes they know his location should call 911. Tips can also go to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office at (727) 582-6200. A family contact, identified in community posts as Mercedes, can be reached at (727) 479-7401.
