Tampa-based Buddy Brew Coffee is headed to Palm Harbor's U.S. 19 corridor, the company confirmed as it prepares to open its first Pinellas County café Friday, Aug. 14, inside the Sprouts Farmers Market in Seminole.

The Palm Harbor Sprouts is the only other Pinellas location in Buddy Brew's 10-store expansion deal with the grocery chain, according to Tampa Bay Beacons. No opening date has been announced for the Palm Harbor café.

"We've wanted to bring Buddy Brew across the bay for a long time," CEO and co-founder Dave Ward said in a statement ahead of the opening.

The Seminole opening at 7263 Seminole Blvd. kicks off with a ribbon cutting at 9:45 a.m. Friday. Seminole Mayor Leslie Waters is scheduled to attend alongside Buddy Brew and Sprouts executives. Every drink costs $3 that day, the first 25 customers get gift bags with merchandise and gift cards, one customer wins free coffee for a year, and a DJ plays through the celebration.

When the New Tampa Sprouts location opened in early August, more than 50 people were waiting at the ribbon cutting. The first customer arrived three hours early.

What Palm Harbor residents can expect

The Seminole café menu offers espresso drinks, cold brew, matcha, smoothies, pastries and breakfast and lunch items. Signature drinks include the Honey Lavender Flat White, Strawberry Matcha, Carrot Cake Latte and a Berry Beach Smoothie made with strawberries, mango, blueberries and pineapple.

Buddy Brew sources only beans scoring 85 or higher on the 100-point specialty scale and roasts them in Tampa. Ward and his wife, Susan, started the company in 2010 after roasting beans in their South Tampa garage. Susan Ward grew up in Clearwater.

The chain operated eight cafés, a roastery and a cold brew production facility before the Sprouts partnership was announced in June. The deal will more than double its locations, with additional cafés planned in Hillsborough, Pasco and Sarasota counties. Buddy Brew's BOLT cold brew already sits in the refrigerated aisle at all Sprouts stores nationwide.

The Palm Harbor expansion adds a second specialty roaster to the U.S. 19 corridor. Kahwa Coffee, a separate St. Petersburg-based roaster, opened its first franchise location in Palm Harbor in early August.
