Palm Harbor University's varsity girls volleyball team swept Largo 3-0 on Tuesday, improving the Hurricanes to 13-3 on the season.

The nonconference home win was PHU's fourth in its last six matches. Largo dropped to 7-7 with the loss, according to MaxPreps.

Largo posted 15 kills, 15 assists, five serving aces, 33 digs and two total blocks as a team. Annabelle King was named Largo's player of the match.

The Hurricanes' junior varsity squad also beat Largo, winning 2-0 in the earlier match.

Hurricanes went 3-2 at Venice tournament

PHU entered the week off a 3-2 showing at the Battle at the Beach tournament in Venice on Sept. 18-19. The Hurricanes opened with a loss to Beachside, then beat Westminster Christian, Weeki Wachee and Venice before falling to Trinity Catholic. Before the tournament, PHU beat Tarpon Springs 3-0 on Sept. 14 and St. Petersburg 3-0 on Sept. 17.

The Hurricanes were ranked No. 11 in Florida Class 6A and No. 38 in the state by MaxPreps entering the Largo match.

PHU travels to East Lake Thursday

PHU and Largo are both back on the court Thursday.

PHU travels to East Lake in Tarpon Springs for a 7:30 p.m. nonconference match. The Eagles are 14-6 after a 3-2 win over Shorecrest Prep.

Dunedin brings unbeaten district mark to Largo

Dunedin (7-4 overall, 4-0 in district play) visits Largo for a 7:30 p.m. nonconference match. The Falcons are coming off a 3-0 district win over Gibbs, while Largo (7-7, 1-0 district) looks to rebound from Tuesday's loss.

The matchup gives Dunedin a chance to test itself against a Packers team that just saw the Hurricanes up close.

Dunedin's stat leaders include outside hitter Isobel Maclean-Eltham, with a team-high 101 kills; libero Aydan Murphy, with 61 serving aces, 224 digs and 213 receptions; and setter Emmorie Barnes, with 126 assists.
