The Palm Harbor resident's victory extends a family presence in the U.S. House that dates to 1983, when his father, former Rep. Michael Bilirakis, took office. Bilirakis first won the seat in 2006.

The race was the first for all three candidates in a district reshaped by mid-decade redistricting signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis in 2026. CD-12 now covers parts of western central Pasco County and western Hillsborough County, according to WTSP. The district included all of Citrus and Hernando counties during the 2024 election, but redistricting shifted those counties into District 15.

Bilirakis raised more than $2.2 million this cycle, far outpacing Overman's roughly $280,000, FL Voice News reported. President Donald Trump, who endorsed Bilirakis, carried the new district boundaries by roughly 15 points in 2024.

Bilirakis, 63, chairs the Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade Subcommittee and sits on the Energy and Commerce Committee. His congressional website states he has authored 78 provisions signed into law.

Overman, a former Hillsborough County commissioner who served from 2018 to 2022, campaigned on affordable housing, lowering prescription drug costs and expanding health coverage. She won the Democratic primary on Aug. 18 with approximately 53% of the vote, defeating Darren McAuley, according to Florida Politics.

Scrivener, a health care case manager assistant running without party affiliation, filed his statement of candidacy with the Federal Election Commission on Jan. 25.

These results remain unofficial. County canvassing boards in Hillsborough and Pasco counties will certify the final totals in the coming days.
