Rep. Anna Paulina Luna won a third term in Florida's Congressional District 13 on Tuesday, Nov. 3, beating Democrat Leela Gray by less than a percentage point.

With 99% of precincts reporting, Luna held 49.48% to Gray's 48.67%, WUSF reported. In 2024, Luna beat Democrat Whitney Fox by about 10 points.

The race played out on a redrawn map after Florida's Republican-dominated legislature redrew district boundaries this year. The new map cuts off the southern part of Pinellas County, including portions of St. Petersburg and Gulfport, and pushes north into Pasco County.

Luna thanked supporters at the St. Petersburg Marriott Clearwater on election night, where the Pinellas GOP hosted a watch party.

"All that matters in politics is if you win by one vote, and so we're very happy tonight," Luna said, according to WUSF.

Luna said she expected a tighter race in a midterm election but was not worried about the outcome. She said one of her top priorities will be enacting congressional term limits. She also vowed to stop taking corporate PAC money.

Her campaign website listed expanding veterans' care, capping student loan interest rates, eliminating taxes on seniors' Social Security benefits and banning insider trading as additional priorities, according to WUSF.

Gray, a retired Army brigadier general who deployed three times including to Iraq, won a three-person Democratic primary with 65% of the vote, according to Military.com. She holds a graduate degree from the U.S. Army War College, according to Ballotpedia. No public response from Gray appeared in available reports as of publication.

Paul Branesky, a Pinellas County resident and 22-year Navy veteran, attended the GOP watch party. He said he connected with Luna's military background.

"Our congresswoman takes care of us. I do many things for veterans myself, because that's what I live for nowadays," Branesky said.

Campaign finance reports showed Luna raised about $4.3 million to Gray's roughly $2.9 million as of Oct. 14, according to WUSF. Both candidates also received millions in outside funding.

Luna has represented the district since 2023. She serves on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, including its DOGE subcommittee, and the House Foreign Affairs Committee. She also chairs the Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets.

Luna has also pushed for beach renourishment efforts in Pinellas County, an issue she highlighted during the campaign.
