Downtown Dunedin's Douglas Avenue corridor will sound like a music festival all week, with free shows running every night from Friday, July 31 through Thursday, August 6 at four walkable venues.
Friday alone offers three acts within a few blocks. Sauce Pocket, a Florida-based improv jazz-funk-rock group, takes the stage at Dunedin Brewery at 8 p.m. A block away at Bauser's Neighborhood Bar, Papa J Band starts at 9 p.m., according to Creative Loafing's weekly music guide. And at Woodwright Brewing Co., the weekly Pickin' Splinters bluegrass jam hosted by Hal Meyers runs 7–10 p.m.
Saturday brings more. Papa J & Mo' Soul, a blues act the brewery describes as hailing from Dunedin by way of New York City, plays Dunedin Brewery at 8 p.m. Soulfish follows at Bauser's at 9 p.m.
Sunday shifts the mood. Saxophonist Jeremy Carter performs during the Jazzy Sunday Brunch at HEW Chophouse inside the Fenway Hotel, 453 Edgewater Dr., from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The brunch menu features items like Crab Cake Benedict and beignets.
The Fenway keeps music going into the week: Peggy Morris plays Monday, August 3 at 6 p.m., and Kyle Schroeder takes Tuesday, August 4 at 6 p.m. Both shows are free.
Wednesday, August 5 brings Dunedin Brewery's Open Jam at 8 p.m., hosted by the house band of Dave Gerulat, Vinny Svoboda, and Austin Llewelyn. Sign-up starts at 7 p.m. The brewery calls it "the longest running and best Open Jam in the area."
The week closes Thursday, August 6 with another Pickin' Splinters session at Woodwright Brewing Co., 985 Douglas Ave., from 7–10 p.m. The open jam welcomes players and singers of all skill levels.
Every show is free.
