Palm Harbor veterans and their families can grab a free dinner and learn about expanded VA benefits at Lutheran Church of the Palms on Tuesday, Aug. 11.

The evening starts with a community BBQ and potluck at 5:30 p.m. in the church's Fellowship Hall at 2250 Nebraska Ave. At 6:15 p.m., a representative from the Bay Pines VA Healthcare System will present on programs and services available to veterans, their families and caregivers.

The event is free. All community members are welcome, not just those who have served.

Event organizer Karen Wood posted the listing to Patch's Palm Harbor calendar on July 30, noting that veterans' care options change frequently and that attendees may discover services that benefit themselves, a loved one or a neighbor.

The Bay Pines VA Healthcare System serves veterans at nine locations across central southwest Florida, including a community-based outpatient clinic in North Pinellas, the closest VA clinic to Palm Harbor. The system is headquartered at the C.W. Bill Young VA Medical Center in Bay Pines, according to the VA's website.

The church's events calendar describes the evening as a chance to learn about new VA programs and benefits. No registration is required.
