D'Lites Ice Creamery opened Oct. 1 at 35222 U.S. Highway 19 N in Palm Harbor's Alderman Plaza, according to co-owner Rachelle Funk.
The shop is run by three co-owners: Morgan and Bethany, two former employees of the D'Lites Countryside location, and Bethany's mother, Funk. When the Countryside location's owners retired, they encouraged the employees to strike out on their own.
"They suggested to the girls working that they should open the shop themselves, and we thought that was an opportunity we shouldn't pass up!" Funk wrote in an Oct. 14 email.
The trio had originally planned a summer opening but faced construction delays, What Now Tampa reported in August.
The shop serves D'Lites' proprietary soft serve, which the shop's website describes as low in sodium, sugar, fat and carbohydrates, cholesterol-free and keto-friendly. The brand says its soft serve has about 50 calories per serving. The soft-serve rotation changes often. As of Oct. 21, the lineup included chocolate, vanilla, chocolate macadamia, Cinnabon, Thin Mint and French vanilla.
The menu also includes Hershey's hard-scoop ice cream with flavors such as pumpkin, cappuccino crunch, pistachio and salty caramel truffle. Dairy-free, vegan-friendly Oatmazing options include chocolate chunk and cookies and cream. The shop advises customers with allergies to speak with staff before ordering.
After receiving requests for trunk-or-treat goodies, the owners posted a printable coupon for a free kids' cone with the purchase of an adult-size ice cream. The offer runs through Nov. 30. One coupon is allowed per purchase and cannot be combined with other offers.
D'Lites lists hours of noon to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday. The phone number is 727-386-8786. Updates are posted on Instagram and Facebook at @dlitesicecreamery.
